This year, more than 200 people participated in three days of activities as part of NCTE's Lobby Days. On Tuesday, April 28, we visited our members of Congress to talk with them about the need for an Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) that includes gender identity, The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Actand more. Please join us next year as we make strides to bring transgender equality to our nation's capital.

As we discussed in the meeting,
- Transgender people face pervasive discrimination and violence.
- Transgender people are not protected from discrimination on the federal level.
- A growing number of states and localities prohibit this type of discrimination, yet coverage remains spotty and is often not enforced.
We look forward to working with you to address these issues and to create a safer and more just society for all, regardless of their gender identity. We ask that you to support legislation the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act..
