Map: State Nondiscrimination Laws

January 30, 2015

This map shows which states have clear protections against discrimination, typically with the inclusion of gender identity/expression in the state non-discrimination law, which usually covers employment, housing, public accommodations, and credit. In other states, federal sex discrimination laws apply for employment, housing, and credit, and some public accommodations such as health care providers; these laws have generally been interpreted to cover discrimination against transgender people.
