Strong families—however they are composed—support the well-being of transgender people throughout their lives. Despite the advance of marriage equality, transgender people and their families still face many challenges. Both transgender parents and supportive parents of trans children can face unfair and harmful challenges to their parental rights and decisions. As with LGBT families in general, trans people’s families continue to face barriers to fostering and adopting in many places, and to recognition of their family relationships in many situations. Trans people seeking support in the face of family rejection or domestic violence still often face barriers as well. Our resources focus on family rights and responding to discrimination related to family relationships.
